We got rain today! The fire danger has been high for about a week, maybe a little more than that. I didn't water for that reason. The heat has gone down some but it's supposed to get humid again. Great! My veggies and flowers need the rain and sun. The humidity I think they can do without. I know I can do without the humidity. We might get some rain tomorrow but it's not going to be a big deal. Works for me. I have to replant some of my peas as they are dying. I will be glad to get some new ones coming up. However, when I cooked my peas and I steamed them, they were hard and not so good tasting. Is there a way to cook them so they are soft and not hard? Some that I cooked exploded so that wasn't so good either. Can't wait to pick some beans. All I see right now are flowers. I love my garden!

It was very hot and humid today so I didn't stay out for long. I staked up my beans, some of them anyway. I have more to do tomorrow. I also pulled out some of my dead pea stalks. Tomorrow I will plant more as I love peas. I had to tie up my peppers because one part of the stalk is dead and the plant was falling over! I've never had this happen before. It was weird. I picked some beans too. I got one cucumber and my nephew ate part of it tonight w/his chicken. He loved it! I have a small yellow squash but I'm going to let it get a little bigger. I watered everything. Tomorrow I will stake up more of the beans and plant more peas. I will also go to buy more flowers for the front of our house. My Nasturtium's have a flower on them! They are the slowest growing things I have ever planted by seeds. I have to sprinkle some of that Cayenne pepper around my flowers. It seems like they are being eaten!

Today I went outside in the heat and humidity and dug up the rest of the stuff around the tree stump. I got it all dug up. I also went to buy flowers. 2 different places. First I decided to go to Home Depot. I thought they might have something different. They had boring stuff and some that grew high and but not out. So they would be really tall but not have a lot of flowers. You know what I mean. Then I decided to just go w/the flower place I was going to go to before Home Depot. I got all the Lantanas they had and some pretty purple flowers to put in between. Dad has to buy more dirt for what I dug up because a lot of dirt went w/the stuff I dug up. I can't believe I dug it up all by myself. I'm stronger than I thought. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I may have to put off planting until Tues. We do need the rain still though.

Nope, never heard of those worms before. Never had them either. You do know you can replant your peas up until the first frost? I have some to replant too. Same w/beans. I never seem to get enough for me. When I cook them, I steam them. They either explode or they are hard. I steamed them last time for 4 min. and they were hard but some exploded. I can't seem to get them cooked right. It rained some today but not much. We sure could use more rain than we got today. I'm sure I will have to water my garden tomorrow. My dad bought some bags of dirt to fill in where I dug. When I took out all the grass and some hard, white, stringy, stuff, I took a lot of dirt w/it, dirt that wouldn't come out when I shook it. Tomorrow dad will put it in and I will put in my plants. Something took out one of my plants, the whole thing, and left it above the hole. My dad saw it and put it back in. I sprinkled the Cayenne pepper around all of the plants. That should last for a while and then I will do it again. This has never happened before. It's so weird!

I've never seen any although my neighbor used to have one but that was in the 80' I think. All we have are squirrels, at least is all I have ever seen. We got a little bit of rain today. We are supposed to get more tomorrow. We'll see. We really need it! Really bad!

We had some wild weather yesterday. A Tornado touched down in my state but not anywhere near my house, thank the Lord. Tornado's never happen in my state, well, hardly ever. I did some praying when it got really dark out. The only thing we got was rain and very high winds. We had to close the windows because it was raining in! It was horrible! When I looked outside today I saw that one of my pea stakes had fallen over! I went outside to put it back in the dirt. Nothing else happened, thank God, and I did. Today I went to dance camp and my nephew came over so I didn't get to go out in my garden. Maybe tomorrow I will be able to.

Forgot to mention that we are supposed to have some nasty weather tomorrow too. I probably won't be going out to do anything.

Glad you're OK. We don't get tornadoes here where I live. Sounds scary.

Today it poured rain all day. Lots of rain! There was also some thunder and lightening. I never got to go outside to my garden. No Tornado's today, thank the Lord. It is very, very rare for us to have a Tornado. My dance teacher cancelled dance the day they talked about a Tornado because the power went out at her house and there was quarter sized hail! She said she was scared too. W/all the rain today, I may not have to water for about 2 days or so. We closed the windows tonight because they said we are supposed to have more bad weather tonight and since it rains in when it gets windy. we don't want to be up in the middle of the night shutting windows. There was some heavy rain and lightening before but nothing now. That doesn't mean it won't happen. Tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 100 and humid! Guess who won't be going out much tomorrow? For my part of the state, there is a heat warning until 8 tomorrow night. Then in the late afternoon the bad weather, lots of rain and wind again is going to start up tomorrow. I think we've had enough thank you very much. I hope stuff is growing and not drowning. Before I said we needed some rain. Now I think we don't need anymore for a while.

Picked a whole bunch of beans and we ate some for supper. I have to check to see what kind of bean seeds I bought because they are the most tender that I have ever had! When I run out, I am buying that kind again. It's supposed to rain tomorrow but before it does, if they are right and it doesn't come sooner than they say, I want to replant some peas and check to see if anything else is growing. I think I have 4 or 5 cucumbers coming up already and I just picked one. My nephew is going to be drowning in cucumbers but besides raw carrots and raw broccoli, cucumbers are the only veggies he likes. If he had his way, he wouldn't eat veggies ever and he's tried to pull that one on me before. He has to eat veggies! I love my garden this year!

I watered everything today. They sure needed it. I also bought some Jello. Before everyone thinks I am bonkers, I sprinkled the Jello around my flowers. I got a handy hint that said the Jello had nutrients that are good for the plant and soil and my flowers would get bigger. I think some of them are dying and I hope this helps. The hint said Jello was good for plants and flowers so I am guessing I can't use it on my veggies. I picked more cucumbers, a tomato and some peas. My red peppers are green! The stick in them said red. I'll be mad if they don't turn red because I don't like green at all. If they stay green I am going to be mad because I thought I bought red. How can you tell except by the stick in the plant? Maybe tomorrow I can go out and plant more peas. I love garden peas and know I can plant them for quite a while. I will even plant more string beans. I love them too.

I know red peppers don't come out red, they are green first. However, mine are so big and heavy they stared to fall over. I staked them up and it's been about 2 weeks that they have been green. It shouldn't take that long for them to turn red, should it? They are in direct sun so that's not the problem. I still wonder if someone who thought they were being funny switched the sticks in the plants at the nursery. I really am mad about this. I wanted red peppers. I replanted some green beans today. I hope I can get some more before the first frost. It was also raining today and we sure needed it. Tomorrow it's not supposed to be to nice so I can't do anymore. I was going to do peas too but I used up all my seeds. Darn. I love peas from the garden! I also bookmarked 2 great places to get seeds and one is in CT, the state I am from! I can't wait to really look at both of them and pick some out for next year. If I get them early enough, I can start early. My Lantanas are attracting the tiniest butterflies! I've never seen them so tiny before and my preschool hatches butterflies every year. Compared to the ones who have been in my flowers, the ones we hatch are gigando! I wish I could get a god picture of one. Maybe if I do a Google search I can see what kind these are. They are so adorable!

We need rain! We are under a drought warning and asked not to water our lawns or use a lot of water. Last year all it did was rain. Well, most of the time. It rained for about 5 seconds tonight and it's so hot and humid that it dried up on the roads in no time. When it does rain it's not for long or it misses my part of the state entirely. I watered my garden today. Dad fixed the hose and got a new I don't know what it's called but it's where the water comes out of. It has lots of settings and I had fun playing w/it to see what setting I should have it on to water the veggies. It really works well. I hope it rains some.

I hope you get some rain soon. We could use some rain too. We are not allowed to water our lawns either, except by hand, so there is a lot of yellow lawns in our city. I haven't done much gardening this week, because the air quality has been poor with all the forest fires. There aren't any fires near me but it still has a bad effect on the air. I am happy to see some cucumbers growing on my two plants. My bush cucumber plant is only about 6 inches tall for some weird reason, but it has one cucumber on it. My other plant is a different variety, taller, and it has about three on it so far.

We have had 2 days of lots of rain and boy am I glad! Everything seems to look better, even the flowers that I water every day, sometimes twice because by the second watering the soil looks all dried up and like I didn't even water it. The flowers look so much better than they did. I didn't check the veggies because they are on the side of the house and it was raining. The flowers are in the front so I saw them when I got out of the car. It's supposed to rain, not steady I don't think, until Thurs. Maybe our drought will finally be over? I can't wait to see if any beans are popping up yet. I was so surprised to see 3 potatoes growing in my garden! They were small but there were 3 from one eye! It was so cool! If it's not pouring tomorrow, I will check and see what's going on w/the veggies. I bought a parsley plant for $2 at our farmers market. It is loaded! Compared to the one I bought that died, this looks really good. It's sitting in it's pot because I couldn't plant it because of the rain. I probably won't be able to plant it for a few days but at least it's getting water.

Beans are popping up almost everywhere I planted them! I am so excited! I can't wait until they come up and I have beans on them. I love green and yellow beans and my green beans this year have been amazing! The best ever! We went to the Farmer's Market and I bought some spinach to make creamed spinach. I found in the spinach some little stems w/tiny sprouts on them. I am going to plant them into my garden and see what happens. Hey, it can't hurt and if nothing happens, then it was a cool experiment. If something does happen, I'll have spinach! That would be really cool since I've never planted that before. I really hope something happens. I didn't want to throw them away, just in case. You never know. I didn't think I would get potatoes and I got 3! God is doing some miracles in my garden this year.

Glad you are having success with garden! I pulled up my onions this week and have set them out to dry. Many of them are quite small compared to last year, but I am still thankful for them. I haven't dug up my potatoes yet. I'm never quite sure when to dig them but I think they must be about done, since the plants above the ground look pretty yellow. I am still waiting for my first tomatoes to ripen but my first cucumber is ready to be picked :)

We didn't get any rain from that Hurricane and boy am I mad! They predicted all kinds of rain and wind but nothing happened. They even gave some schools on the coast 1/2 day and they evacuated people out of a campground for the weekend and nothing happened! When are they going to stop scaring us? I'm mad because I would have watered everything. So I didn't water my garden for 2 days because of all the rain we didn't get. Today I did a good watering. I took down a lot of my corn stalks and brought in the tiny corn. I think next year I will plant them not so close together. Maybe that was the problem. They were not full grown. My parsley plant is dying on the bottom! I can't figure out what the problem is! The ones near the soil are turning brown but it seems to be growing up on the top. Last year the plant I had took up the whole garden. My peppers are finally turning red. I don't remember them taking this long last year. My garden is starting to look so bare now that I have removed lots of things. The beans down in the back, the leaves are getting eaten! The ones on the side of the house are not. How weird is that? It's bugs eaten, not animal eaten too. What, those bugs are only near the back and the don't go on the side? LOL

Last night we had some awful thunder and rain. It was so loud it woke me up! Today when I went outside it looked like I hadn't watered my garden in a few days! What is up w/that? Why does it look that way when I water it everyday and it rained last night? I don't know for how long it rained but it rained. We still need some. My beans are doing really well. I have another cucumber growing but it's yellow so it's not ready to be picked yet. I have a funny feeling that it won't be ready and will have to die there. I honestly think it will get cold before I can pick it. The peppers are almost red all the way. Thank you Lord! I didn't think it was ever going to happen. I can't wait to pick them.
