ITs hard to do anything legitimate now because of these online scammers!!!

I have more of them hitting me up on Craigslist through email than potential buyers which suck!!!

How on earth would you have a "Craigslist for Christians"? Do we need a parallel for everything?

I don't now how there could be a "Craigslist for Christians." How would one screen out non-Christians? What definition of "Christian" would be used? (Would Catholics qualify? Would Mormons? Would Mennonites?) And how would one guarantee that the person (I would assume) applying to be part is telling the truth about their faith?

Nope - I don't see it.

(I moved it from College-Career, thinking it'd be a better fit here.)

The use of Craigslist to buy and sell household items has been discussed, sometimes, in Home & Garden. But I am just wondering if the OP needs help with using Craigslist for something along those lines .... to raise money, perhaps?

yeah, how do profit in selling your merchandise on there(CRAIGSLIST) with all the online scammers on craigslist. I be thinkin they are legitimate buyers for my product but they turn out to be a scam and Im geting tired of it. I just want to make a sell off of my stuff I dont use anymore.

Lets not talk about the Christian craigsist. Lets be in the present. What are some practical ways.

Sell one item at a time.
Take and post good photos of it.
Set a reasonable price.
Post it in the correct Craigslist category.
Insist on cash only. Arrange a face-to-face meeting to exchange the cash and merchandise.

You gotta use a pre-screening process with Craigslist. I no longer respond blindly with personal information until they write back and its obvious that it is a real person and doesn't contain some thing that says go to this link, etc.

All good points. I would also add, look at the other ads first. I just did that this morning because my daughter is trying to sell her Build-A-Bear clothes so she has money this summer. We were going to list it for one price, but lowered it after reading what the others are selling for.

I've sold and traded a lot of stuff on Craigslist. You have to make it clear in the listing that you are a seasoned online seller, will only deal face to face with no "shipping agents", and will not sell to out of state or country. Then you have to ignore all of the emails with links or asking if you'll take a check for more $$$ than the item is selling for. Being "scammer smart" is just a part of living in this new technology world; what they used to do over fax is now done by internet.

Oh yeah, and stay out of the personal ad section unless you want to be grossed or weirded out.

Not sure what problems you've had???

I've only used Craig's List once. We got a little hound dog and quickly discovered that we needed a crate for him. At PestMart they were $100. Um, a bit more than I wanted to spend, considering we had just shelled out $200 for the mutt. Quick look on Craig's List adn I found one. We exchanged a couple phone calls--his dog had out grown the crate, he didn't have room to store it. We met at McD's. $20 and I had a gently used crate.

I made $35 two weeks ago, and $115 today. I will not deal with shipping agents, in fact I will not ship at all. You want it, come get it and bring cash, no checks.
So far no problems.

I couldn't believe the relentlessness of the scammers last time I tried to sell something on craigslist. I relisted a guitar amp a couple times and each time, the same guys would try the same scam on me, but with different names. I finally got rather... direct... with them and they left me alone.

this is the problem: 100% of people that reply to my ad are scammers!

how can I make my results better with real people to reply to me instead of scammers.

Should I offer telephone number?

I wish I could get even one response to me current ad - even the spammers don't want it.

Anyone want to buy an unregistered copy of Peachtree Premium Accounting 2011?
